Does wintertime leave you feeling dull and uninspired?
Paint has the wonderful ability to really brighten things up when everything outside is dull and leafless. It’s a budget-friendly reno option that anyone can do, and there’s a chance you may already have some old paint lying around that you don’t know what to do with. Instead of launching a full-scale renovation of your space, take a look around your home and look for something you may want to change, and make it happen—with paint!
1. Paint your kitchen cabinets.
One of the more popular DIY home projects is painting your kitchen cabinets. This can be a lot of fun, and a money-saver too, instead of buying a whole new set of cabinets. Maybe your kitchen just needs a bit of updating, or you’re tired of looking at those old dark cabinets that leave you feeling less than inspired. Another bonus to painting your cabinets is that they can be changed periodically to stay modern.
2. Paint your front door.
Is your front door weathered and looking a bit dull and sad? Why not transform it with a little paint? Painting your front door can greatly impact your home's much-needed curb appeal with nearly endless color choices, and leave a ton of room for personalization. Paint your entire door, half of it, or if you’re feeling artsy and have the skills to do it, paint a mural on it.
3. Paint the legs of dining tables and chairs.
Bring the farmhouse style to your home by painting the legs of your dining table and chairs. You could go neutral or give them a bright splash of color to make them pop and add some visual interest to your dining room—without redoing the entire thing.
4. Paint doorway arches.
Doorway arches can bring a lot of sophistication and class to a home. Arches are a great focal point and they open up to other rooms and opportunities, so why let them get outdated? Painting them can help!
5. Use paint on trims or in an accent wall.
Worried about going all out with painting an entire room or your home? That’s okay—sometimes all you need is a little paint to freshen up a space, without doing the whole area. That’s where painting trims and accent walls come in handy. These little pops of color can revive a space without requiring a ton of work to do it.
6. Bring the spark back by painting your fireplace.
Who doesn’t love a fireplace in their home? Fireplaces are the heart of the home, and shouldn’t be left abandoned and unmaintained. Not only could that be a safety hazard, but there are SO many ways they can be used! Adding some paint to them can make them stand out and get the attention they deserve.
7. Take a step in the right direction and paint your stairs.
Stairs can be a lot of fun to paint, and you can use more than one color. You could do a neutral, classic color for the top part of the step, and go a little wild with the base of your stairs. Depending on your home’s unique décor, you could do say a white top and a blue base, or go the extra mile and personalize them even further.
